Beans&Books in Munich

HIGHLY recommended. I have Celiac and cannot have gluten, and am very reactive to even the smallest amount. I’m really hesitant to try new places because i run the risk of getting sick, but i trust this place with my life. I’m here about 2-3 times a month, have never had a single dietary problem with the EXTREMELY delicious food. Staff is unbelievably sweet and helpful and it shows. The mini store attached helps keep the children i babysit occupied when we were able to dine in. From the picky-est of eaters to the bold the menu has something for everyone (and it’s affordable). Truly a hidden Milwaukee gem.

Always a lovely time. Somehow, despite being in Milwaukee, the sun always seems to be shining in here! The tall windows and the friendly staff create a very welcoming place! And the food is wonderful! I haven't been during the pandemic, I hope they're doing well!

I have been going here since I was a kid. Their menu offers many great vegetarian options. I also love their small market. It's a great place to find locally made items and gifts.

During the colder months of the pandemic (winter '20-'21), I have come to trust and use Beans and Barley as a comforting sanctuary. Most customers wear masks correctly and all staff do. The staff are very friendly and positive which I so appreciate these days. Also, the deli guys are often so fashionable and colorfully dressed. They offer curbside pickup through their website or phone number. I respect the fact they closed their dining room in late fall due to rising cases. It shows they're sacrificing to help stop the spread of COVID which is not lost on me. I also loved their cheerful holiday decor. Thanks Beans for being awesome during a super tough time.

Great place!

Been going here for years and I’m never disappointed. Try the Balsamic Tofu or Sweet Potato Burrito. Awesome staff & really great owners ❤️ This place is a MKE staple. Also, great place for vegetarians and vegans. Definitely worth checking out. Oh! & a cute little shop attached, good gifty stuff.

Miss eating there... I stopped in for some prepared food from the refrigerator case...BEST chicken salad in the state!!! ALWAYS friendly and respectful staff ?

Spectacular as always and one of my favorite places in my ol' stomping grounds))) Was a pleasure to finally make it there with my niece who's attending my alma mater UW Milwookie and try her favorite sammie on the menu))

Great place for light food! They've got a bar too, though the bar is closed due to covid right now. Neat little grocery section too. Definitely recommended!

Few things, that I thought is worth penning down as review. I loved the fact that they have parking space. I am one of those that like to park and not walk a mile to eat. I am not that crazy about any restaurant. I loved the fact that they have outside seating. That basically straight off avoids invisible killer COVID. After you pick your food inside and pay. They served the food at the table. 5 start for that. They replaced my coffee with hotter one. Needless to say food was great. It’s pick and go type. Just like the way I like except for I sat out and enjoyed sunny evening. There are bunch of flyers about local event at this place. I love the fact that they promote local businesses. It’s a great location right in the middle of everything so don’t mind noisy road, Cops sirens going off etc. Big thumbs up to staff working here. They are polite and friendly. I was here late summer and just when economy started to open. So there were not too many people around but still all tables outside were occupied. So, I guess you may have to wait when they are busy.

Consistently good food. They are used to serving take out so they know how to do it during this time of Covid. Great cookies and other desserts. Had the chick burrito today and really enjoyed it.

Same wonderful food I've come to love in coming here for over 25 years. Beans and Barley has been a longer part of my life than it has not. Precautions are taken to keep everyone safe. Saw the doors wiped down several times in the short time I was there. Thank you so much to the always wonderful staff.

I haven't been at Beans & Barley since I was a kid! I like the cool little nic nacs for art, writing, and music. I bought some grocerys. The Ceres juice is the best fruit drink I had yet, and the caesar salad was very good. The customer service was pleasant and lovely. I'll be back again

Let me first say the food was excellent. We ordered on Door Dash and even though one item was not what we ordered, both salads we had - chicken salad with garden and grilled vegetable - were excellent. However the portions were laughably small. And not even by your typical American portion size standards, I mean like enough that even a toddler would leave the meal unsatisfied and what's more it was not inexpensive food to begin with. Had to order pizza after.

Excellent service, love the people that work in the grocery / deli and registers. Great tasting food , would like to see more options that are organic , especially items like berries. Would like to see deli options with no oil. Several have both olive and canola oils despite the dish itself being a vinegar dish, like their vinegar potato salad. Why?! This place is excellent and I visit several days a week, would like to see more oil-free options and organic options.

The food was amazing! I’m a gluten free vegetarian, a tough date as I often say. The food I ordered was so tasty and scrumptious I could hardly talk to my companion I was so distracted by the yumminess going on in my mouth. YowZA! Just go, you’ll be so happy you did!!
